3. Labyrinth of Light

A walking meditation

The Labyrinth of Light is a walking meditation of light-filled words.  Labyrinths have been used for thousands of years as a tool to help us journey within.  The imagery of the circle and spiral combine into a meandering but purposeful journey to our own centre and back again out into the world.

Each one of us has all kinds of feelings, emotions, qualities and values within us.  We have the power to choose the words that make us feel good or bad.  You are invited to connect with these words of light that will fill you with positive energy, to uplift and revive yourself.

Take three deep and full breaths to bring yourself to this present moment. Slowly and mindfully start to walk into the labyrinth following the path.  Stop at each sign that says Infinite Love etc, and take a moment to find the quality of the word within yourself.  The key is to match your feelings with the words.  Continue walking slowly and mindfully, affirming that you are full of these qualities.  When you come to the centre, pause and take a moment to enjoy the rebirth of your true self.  At this moment we are reminded that we are human Beings, not human Doings.  You are a Being of Light.

When you are ready, turn around and begin to walk out along the same path.  This time, you will see I am Love etc.  Breathe in I am Love and radiate this out to the world by breathing out the message May Peace Prevail On Earth.

(If you meet someone coming into the labyrinth as you are walking out, simply step onto the banking to allow them to pass.)

Say the words to yourself as you walk around into the centre.  What words do you like best?  Can you think of a time when you are being this word?  Can you think of someone in your life who reminds you of this word?  Choose your favourite words and say the words I am … over and over while you are walking out.
